Tornado last flights
Hi, have touched on this before but is there any news yet on what the RAF is planning for the Tornado when she retires, is there going to be a fly past or anything at all happening at Marham, I don’t want to miss seeing her fly for the last time, surely surely there will be a last flight, like what they did with the jags and harriers?

Re: Tornado last flights
I see on another site someone mention there is a final fly over? Need dates!!!
Re: Tornado last flights
I'm sure once things are finalised the general public will know.
There is supposed to be a Farewell tour, and I believe some will visit Lossie at some stage.
The dispandment parade is apparently 14th March.
Just keep an eye out on here and social media, I'm sure it won't be too long before defails are released, they're probably busy with the 25th January event for the moment.....

A request to anyone with information regarding the return from Akrotiri of the Shader deployment, are there any dates, even provisional for this as yet?

Re: Tornado last flights
I have just seen on twitter and Facebook that the station commander said they plan to fly three tornado's on the 22nd of Jan (weather permitting), one in a new camo scheme, it looks brand new! Also should be a final send off in FEB.

At this minute in time, there is nothing in concrete; as I am sure you can understand with current operations, plus the serviceability of these few aircraft, they can't promise anything.hernaman86 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 8:30 pmI see on another site someone mention there is a final fly over? Next Friday (25th) you have the Enthusiasts Event - Those of us on it have hardly any clue what is happening.
Next Tuesday, (22nd) you have the planned 3 Special Tail fly - though as stated it is depends on weather/serviceability.
Other than that, you have the mention of disbandment parades (nothing mentioned about flying). The Station Commander teased last night on Twitter about something happening in the Feb half term (Could be the Finale Tour, who knows).
Unfortunately, nobody knows anything concrete yet because nothing has been made public. When someone knows, and it's public, you will then know. There is talk that it may be end of Feb, but the official statement is no flying after the end of March.

I was told by RAF personnel at Coningsby today that the photo sortie on the 22nd will launch at 11 am. There must also be a photo ship.
Re: Tornado last flights

Re: Tornado last flights
Thanks for the information
Unfortunately for me Tuesday is the only day I can't get up there.
Be there early to park I would suggest based on how many cars were in white lane on Thursday!

Re: Tornado last flights
The RAF Marham Media Team are apparently going to make an announcement regarding next Tuesday and parking.
This is in response to my question on the RAF Marham Spotters FB page, as the fields at 01 end are still out-of-bounds and I, personally, do not wish to sour relationships between the base and the land owner.

Can't believe someone addressed the Station Commander on Twitter as "mate" - regardless of ever having been in the forces or not!

There's me thinking that the "highly intelligent chap" was talking about the motorway between Edinburgh and Glasgow.Nighthawke wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 4:15 pmCan't believe someone addressed the Station Commander on Twitter as "mate" - regardless of ever having been in the forces or not!
