Does anyone know if the gates to White Lane from Shouldham Road are open at all? Been up there before and fancy a different view. Thanks

Gents and ladies. A bit of promotion for ourselves. The Marham Aviation Heritage Centre is open tomorrow from 0900-1600. We are situated just outside the main gate and offer a warm welcome and possibly a brew if you are able to pop up. Further to that and for your info if unaware, the butty van opposite the main gate is open and there is also a Subway sandwich shop in the small shopping complex next to us. Hope that helps for those of you needing a refuel or warm up during the day.

Look forward to perhaps meeting a few of you in the centre.
This has to be the most reliable post on this thread. Thanks for the info armra1982 :pop:

What access, if any, is there to the "Gate Guard" Tornado, Victor and Canberra ?

I must be honest, absolutely none tomorrow. Something we at the centre are working on to perhaps have a round the airfield trip but that’s something for summer if we get interest.

Good luck tomorrow and as said, hope to see some of you.

All the best and fingers crossed all goes well.

Plenty of people parked up in White Road. The field entrance opposite the junction is blocked with a nice big pile of manure. Some people have gone down the fencline at 01 but have been sent back. I’ve a feeling a lot of people will try again once the Tornados call up for taxi clearance.

They look to be working in the fields and doing more muck spreading in the field not far from the runway lights

With the approaching retirement, does anyone know what will happen to the survivors, will they be scraped or sold/donated to museums, and which museums would be likely to get one.

Have they brought the retirement forward? I for some reason the Tornado retired at the end of March? Or have I got that wrong again?

It is the end of March, Unknown74.

They're likely to end flying a bit sooner than that though. Once the Tornados fully return from operations, there's little need for them to hang around any longer other than delivering the aircraft to their final resting places at various museums etc.

I thought they already have a GR4 that was delivered last year?

ZD711 is a GIA used by the Force Protection guys, ie RAF Police and RAF Regiment.
