Best time to visit

Post by herc15 » Tue Dec 25, 2018 10:06 pm

I know this is a shot in the dark but is their likely to be any time over the next month or so that will be more likely to provide some GR4 action or shall I take a gamble on what day when I book time off? I would book a straight couple of days or a week but can only really get a single day.

Herc15, firstly I'd check out that the days you can visit coincide with the January Opening Hours for RAF Marham, posted earlier in this RAF Marham section.
Apart from that, it really is 'pot luck'; you are best picking a day without very high winds or with very poor visibility.
There have been some days when 3-4 GR4s have flown, sometimes more than once in a day, but I've also had a day with just one GR4 flight!
Good luck
Paul

I'm planning a visit later in the month and was just wondering if anyone knew when the Op Shader jets are due to return?

Many thanks

I'm not sure that Op. Shader return movements will be generally available in advance, but I suspect it will be fairly soon. Possibly you can check the virtual radar sites and the FC 'Heads-up & OTT' section for tanker and Tornado plots from the Med.

I'd have thought the end of Tornado Ops would have ben a fairly high profile event.

I agree TomMc, I was thinking there are still a few dangerously deluded individuals in this country, who might consider a different sort of welcome home for the Tornado force ☹
