Not surprising at all though the genuine spotters wont be the ones they're most concerned about but all vehicles and occupants. Given the attempted abduction of RAF personel, recent Russian journalists activities, new 5th Gen. aircraft wing and cyber security threats this is what we now have to live with. I expect this will also happen at RAF Lakenheath and other bases throughout the UK.

Serials and markings will no doubt be weather proof and asset compliance. Guess they're very similar to the ones used by our regular police and rescue services, and the chemical testing units following the Salisbury " incidents" but could be the problematic £6 million units trialled in Wales.

Never saw any drones on Monday but RAF security did come down to the fence to have a friendly chat and a few words of advice.

You won't see them if they're "stealth" drones

My dog has extremely keen senses and she didn't spot any either. :)

So I’m Curious, what lengths have photographers been going to to warrant the MOD Plod going down the Drone Route?

Am sure that comment was tongue in cheek. There was an item on RAF social media of late about drones being used at Akrotiri for security, an effective way to monitor a long perimeter at relatively little cost.

They also use drones in the building industry and I believe there is a bit of building going on at Marham.
