Apart from a notification that the 'II' suffix for the British F-35s has been dropped because these are the third such named aircraft to enter British military service, I've yet to see mention of the role prefix and mark numbers.
Does anyone know what these will be?
FGR.1 perhaps?

Re: Lightning role prefix and mark numbers
Given all it's supposed capabilities and therefore plethora of potential role prefix letters, I reckon some quite rude acronyms could be invented.

Re: Lightning role prefix and mark numbers
Interesting question.Could role designations be a thing of the past though, along with squadron markings?.......
Re: Lightning role prefix and mark numbers
The C-17s don't have mark numbers, likely that the UK will stick to U.S. approach for these too.
