Did the F35's fly today?

Post by toom317 » Mon Jun 11, 2018 6:28 pm

Got a text from my brother, who works on a farm on the approach to LFA20, saying he heard an unusual sounding aircraft today, just after 12. Unfortunately he was working in a poly tunnel at the time and couldn't see it, but said it was making a whistling noise. I was at Prestwick and didn't see it either. Just curious to know if it was an F35, but my money is on a Typhoon.

Couple of Hornets were in Prestwick recently. Departed about 10.30 today.

Good, I'd have been mightily hacked of if they had been in the valley. Got the Hornets, (Growlers), at Prestwick.

No, unless it's happened today. Not see it reported anywhere. As for call signs I would expect to be

Marham **
Lightning **
Gibson
Vandel
Derwent

Can't remember any other they used to use. Stuck at work so can't check

One was outside with the canopy up but then it was towed back into the green hangar where ZA267 used to live

The Armoury hangar?

Saxon, Sorpe, Eder and Mohne were 617 Sqn callsigns when they were GR4s at Lossie as well as Gibson and Vandal :thumb:
Ops callsign changed a few times, it was N*gger, Blackdog then Tallboy.

Word is going around that they have some software issues they are trying to resolve. Hopefully we'll see them soon as people make statements they'll be up on certain days and they aren't.
