So they have just sent out an email with more details of the event...And they have outlined the following:

"At 14:00 the coaches will leave taking the group onto the station. From this point the afternoon will be yours to view the aircraft as you see fit under the control of escorts. Myself and other members of the team will be available to answer any questions that you may have. The event will finish at 1600 with the first coach transporting back to the black top car park at this point"

I know see why £50 seems so much...for just TWO hours?! Is it me or does that seem too steep, for just 2 hours? Unless they have something extremely good in line (other than the Great War Display Team!!)

2 hours is shockingly short, they always tend to run over though so I'm guessing this one might too. I hope its more than a single jet on the ASP for the people which are going. Kind of glad I didn't apply for a spot.

It was the aviation society i belong too which originally pushed for Marham to hold a photo shoot. Took a few years before it happened and was a lot different to what the chairman and squadron really wanted. They hoped it would have been closer to the II(AC) centenary event.

Swifty has said that two hours will be the minimum and that he hopes to expand that.
The wording 'Due to the aircraft involved, we have updated security concerns to tend to' could be interpreted to mean a DAVE or two will be present.

Pprune are responsible for the Dave name. They went for something bland and boring, this is the first thread I can remember reading linking the name Dave https://www.pprune.org/military-aviatio ... e-jsf.html

From the e-mails I'm gathering that they don't mind the over running of time, with the small numbers of sorties and aircraft it is obviously proving difficult, last may it went on for a fair few hours,to get on base and get up close and personal with 31sqn and the Tonka is good enough for me regardless of timings.
May the skies be clear and blue and the wind fair with a guiding star to steer by.

The highlight for me last May was the "hot" tornado taxiing in and being able to photograph the pilots and ground crew going through the usual procedures right next to us, that was priceless, and lets face it, that will not be happening for too much longer :-(

I totally agree but would just like to point out that Marham haven’t, in any of the emails, mentioned any tornado movements during the event as yet, before you get too excited over them.

It would be good to see F35 up close, but they will be around for the next 50 years.
Personally I’d rather they just gave us some access to normal Tornado sorties for a few hours!!
As by this time next year the Tornado will be no more!!

If the event is only about two hours in duration with an F35, and we know the Great War display team are supposed to be giving a display I can’t see much Tornado action happening in the time we on base!!!

Although I’ve been lucky enough to get a provisional space on the event I won’t be deciding on attending until the base gives a lot more detail of what they planning.

Trev

Just to add on a positive note: the previous events organised by the station have all been brilliant so hopefully this one will turn out the same :thumb:

First time poster here!

Am lucky enough to have a place on the Enthusiasts day and just had an email that says that the times have been extended to 1pm - 5pm and that there should be chance to see visiting aircraft depart.

Will look forward to meeting some of you
Rob
