Folly rd closed off tonight 23/8
Anybody know anything?
I just tried to drive down near where the 100th KC135s are but there is a temporary barrier across the road.
A nice place to spot, will be a shame if something has caused it to be blocked.

Nothing showing on the Traffic Information websites.

Went back afterwards because Ted Coningsby has been livestreaming from there. I saw some people working on the trees to the left as you drive up.
I may have got this wrong, and could be a temporary fixture.
Shame as it was some lovely light for pictures at the time

No closures showing on one.network but Worlington looks like a no-go till Saturday.

The last 200m of Folly road up to the crash gate is still closed this morning.
The barrier does look temporary though.

Are they pruning trees back?
Re: Folly rd closed off tonight 23/8
If its not on the council road closure site and there are no signs there its clearly not an official authorised road closure??

Bollards still there with tree felling obvious but the barrier is currently down. Looks very temporary thank goodness.

Some of the trees there are hanging very low so hopefully they have given them a trim.

Has anyone been to FOlly Road this morning?
Re: Folly rd closed off tonight 23/8
Has anyone been along in the last couple of days to see if it is still blocked?
I am hoping to visit tomorrow.

Some friends were there today. No issues

Here at Folly road now, it's definitely reopened.
No sign of any trees having been trimmed though which is a shame as it is getting difficult to get my 1.8m tall car under them without scratching the roof.

I was down Folly Rd. Wednesday PM & there were guys felling trees in the wooded area to the left of the road as you go up towards the crash gate.

They often go in there
I have a pet theory that they go in there to take wood to dry for wood burners ! Admittedly the thinning doesn't seem to do the woods any harm

Re: Folly rd closed off tonight 23/8
The reason it was closed because they have now added Concertina wire (similar to the one at Johns field) along a majority of the fence line on that side. I'm unsure if it has reached round the mound yet. There is still a gap between the wire and fence for photographers with ladders.
