Alaskan TDY tankers

Post by DanBeeden » Tue Oct 18, 2022 7:48 am

Hi all,

Could anyone confirm if both the Alaska ANG KC-135s that arrived yesterday are parked on the stands near Pollards Lane?

Many thanks,

Dan

Both also have nose art. 60-0332 is ‘Warhorse’ and 62-3524 is ‘Fairbanks Ice Dogs’, who are the local ice hockey team. The Warhorse artwork is looking a bit worse for wear with a big chunk of it missing.

All the Unit’s tankers also carry a unique tail band. 60-0332 carries the name ‘Huslia’ while 62-3524 has ‘Fairbanks’ in its tail band. Here’s the backstory to the tail bands:

Great to see them at Mildenhall.

I got reasonable shots of both late yesterday afternoon. There was a fence in front, but not too obtrusive.

Today I walked along the field edge to tog these through the fence but was asked to leave, by the land owner.
It is private property and people have been walking across the field.
If you go into the field you will probably be asked to leave.

Please don't shoot the messenger.

on that note i would respectfully suggest and urge anyone that before setting off to get "that picture" to check the good old fashioned O.S. map and look to see if there is a public footpath marked and if not don't go there its just a matter of respect that's all...cheers

Some people get a little carried away with our hobby, but that’s all it is a hobby, the farmer is trying to earn a living !
