What happened to all the Snoops?

Post by quid21 » Mon Jul 26, 2021 12:39 pm

Mildenhall seems a bit quiet on the RC-135 front, I understand they have been moved from Offut AFB to Lincoln AFB so that the runway can be repaired/re-done, but the regular stopovers at Mildenhall seemed to have dried up.

RC-135W 62-4138 arrived at RAFM late last week and as far as I know, it is still present.

It seems to be as a result of both the RAF getting their own Rivet Joints and the U-2s operating regular missions out of Fairford now. The RC-135s have been very active down at Souda Bay too, no doubt in response to the goings on in Eastern Europe and I believe due to Covid restrictions anything heading to or from Offutt has been tanked by the 100th ARW to save an overnight stay

Thanks, so I wasn't imagining it, there's been a reduction in Mildenhall stop-overs and it would make a lot of sense, thanks for your insight :thumb:

I have to say your original post has certainly had the desired effect!! 3 white tops on base today with another expected tomorrow morning (many thanks to Squawk1177 for the heads up).

HOOVR43 OTT Manchester at the moment..
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

Anyone able to advise roughly what time the WC-135 has been returning from ops in recent weeks?
