John mentions filling out a log book at the Post Office, I’m guessing it might be a track and trace requirement?

We all have concerns about social distancing etc, but despite every ones comments above John seems too have gone out of his way to enable us Meercats to enjoy our hobby again. Lets hope too many people do not foul the hedgerows

Well said, and the one reason I won't be visiting just yet is the lack of 'Facilities', but that will come in time, sadly I have seen people using the trailer as a toilet when times were 'normal', too bone idle to walk the few yards to the loo's, opening the field up without toilets is not good for us oldies.
Well done John, hope it works well.

Thanks John for everything you do for the spotter community. I saw an update on Facebook this morning about a £1.50 honesty charge, it didn't say anything about a gate code from the Post Office. I cannot find that FB post now though. I also saw that Mildenhall will be closed over the weekend except for essential flights, July 4th weekend. Can anyone elaborate please?

There is the same post under east anglia on this page. I am also unsure if we need to go to the shop as it states gate will be open from 8 and pay in the honesty box but then says close gates behind you and code to the lock will change daily but no mention of the shop.

My reading of it that the latest update under the east anglia board overrules what John had posted previously as Government advice/rules etc have been updated and modified since the original announcement, so the field will be open 8am until 8.30pm without you having to go to West Row stores for the gate code - maybe those arrangements were going to be harder to implement and its easier just to get people to pay at the honesty box as per usual and drive straight over to the viewing area. Of course this is only my interpretation of it but I'm sure someone with better knowledge will correct if its not right

Planning my first visit to the area on Wednesday/Thursday since February so i am well happy with the news that the field will be open again, especially with the f-15s being there until Friday I believe which I haven't had the opportunity to film before so big applause to John for his efforts from up this way

Best wishes

that might also relate to controlling numbers to ensure social distancing or preventing overcrowding, signing in and buying a ticket is a good way of checking and controlling numbers - something an honesty box cannot do.

good news and very welcome

Best wishes to you John for continued success with the field operation.

Any update to the toilet situation?

I note the earlier comment about the facilities out by the 5way roundabout

I gather there may have been some issues with entry earlier today. Has anyone had issues please? Seems there could have been a gate damaged.

Does anyone know if there is any likelihood of Johns Field being effected by the latest Covid spike? We had tickets for the now canned Duxford Battle of Britain Show on Sunday 20th. Having already booked a reservation at Barton Mills that night, the plan was to spend the Monday at Lakenheath for the Aviano's there. We are now assessing a plan B - A chill out Sunday in the Field with me kindle?
Everyone has a photographic memory; some just don't have film.
