John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules
The Nook Campsite
"John's Field"
As the government announced today that campsites can open from the 04 July. I will state below how we are going to manage the site and what you will have to comply with, if you wish to stay or visit the viewing area.
We are going to put in place strict control measures on the site, to try and keep everyone safe and I will start off with Day visit's to the Viewing area.
Day visitors to the viewing area.
If you wish to visit the viewing area, you will now have to go to West Row Village Store, pay your fee and fill out the log book. You will be given the code for the gate, which you must keep secret, let yourself in, lock the gate behind you and drive up to the viewing area. You must not let any one in what so ever. The gate is monitored by CCTV. If you break the rule you will be banned. You must NOT go onto the Camping area at any time what so ever to take pictures, its off limits. Stick to the viewing area or the track. When you depart lock the gate up behind you. The code will be changed every day! Please note there are NO Toilet Facilities.
You must maintain social distancing at all times.
The post code for West Row Village Store is Beeches Road IP28 8NP. The shop hours are 0730 to 1730 Mon through Saturday Sunday 0800 to 1200.
Camping
No Tents will be accepted. Caravans & Campers only with on board facilities. We have no toilet or Shower facilities!
A new Shower facility is currently under construction.
You must book in advance, by Telephone only, no messages or e-mails. I will not accept calls on Monday and Thursday's after 1900 Hrs and after 2100Hrs any other time. Do not turn up with out a booking you will not be allowed on! No day visitors will be allowed on the Camping area what so ever. All Pitch's will be socially distanced from each other and you will be assigned a pitch number before you arrive, which you will go on.
Regards
John

Hi john
Would it be easier setting up a PayPal account just thinking are people going to want to queue up at the post office.

Re: John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules
To be honest, i'd think a pot of money would be much more hygienic than a lock!
Re: John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules
Thanks John, all seems good and well planned.
Won't be visiting yet though as a man of a certain age toilets are a neccessity after a 125 mile drive sadly

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

Use the toilets next to Walkers 5 minutes up the road on the A1065 just off the 5 ways roundabout

Re: John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules
Thankyou for reopening during this difficult time. Hope to visit in 3 weeks time. We all appreciate the effort you have put in to enable us enthusiasts to continue to vist Milldenhall.
Re: John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules
I tend to agree. IMO this has now made the COVID situation LESS safe... previously you could turn up, pay into honesty box, and you didn’t have to mix with anyone or touch anything if you didn’t want or need to.
Now you have to mix with people in the shop and handle a padlock and a gate to get in and out......how does this make it more COVID safe?
Appreciate the facility trying to open, but these restrictions don’t make sense.
Re: John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules
It's John's facility, so it's his rules, but I have to agree with you, Trev

Re: John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules
I completely agree with what Trev says above. I read through the rules and couldn't work out how this makes anyone safer. Surely an open gate (avoiding multiple people handling the same padlock every hour) and an honesty box like it always was, present a much lower COVID risk option. Bottlenecking people into a shop, especially if its busy, and then needing to open a lock and handle a gate, to my mind at least, seem less safe?
Re: John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules
Maybe it’s to stop the small amount of people who turn up and don’t pay I’ve seen them myself even some spotters who were at the fence further down from john’s field walk up come in use the toilets then go back down the fence line

Obviously some people still haven’t discovered hand antibacterial cleanser or sanitizer,
All sounds good and sensible and stops the tight arises that try to get away without paying.
Steve.

Re: John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules
Antibacterial hand cleanser wouldn't be any use at all in this instance as Covid is a virus not anything bacterial
Cheers

Re: John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules
If people are concerned about touching a gate and a lock after driving to John's site, I'm puzzled as to how they might approach the fuelling of their vehicle on the way there. Wouldn't you use a 20p pair of vinyl gloves for each operation?

Re: John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules
It is perfectly OK to use anti-bac on your hands to clean them after touching items such as mentioned here. The anti-bac needs to have more than 60% alcohol content, which most of the leading brands do (eg Carex).
C-19 is an 'envelope virus' and has an outer fatty layer to protect it. Soap dissolves this layer killing the virus, alcohol-based hand sanitisers work in a similar way.
Re: John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules
I think the point is one of mitigation. Going inside a shop and touching a lock both present good opportunities for the virus, if its possible to remove these opportunities then why not do so?Freeman Lowell wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 6:24 pmIf people are concerned about touching a gate and a lock after driving to John's site, I'm puzzled as to how they might approach the fuelling of their vehicle on the way there. No one is being forced to take any risks. The assessment is yours to make. John has done what's on offer take it or leave it. Picking his conditions to bits probably won't change things for the better. I don't know him at all as I haven't used the site, but if I were in his shoes and reading this, I'd be rethinking why I bothered.

Excellent idea Bollo

Re: John's Field Re-opening July 04 The Rules
Of course you're right - its just ironic that conditions that are brought in to make things safer are in fact increasing the likelihood of a virus transmission. For me, its worth the risk - and i'll be using the site, but I think for all the site's users safety, and John's anything that reduces the necessity of going indoors, interacting with others (especially indoors) and making contact with high-frequency touch objects (like locks, and gate handles) can only be a good thing.Nighthawke wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 8:52 pmNo one is being forced to take any risks.
