Post by dowdalexander » Mon Aug 08, 2011 5:18 pm

From Mildenhall looked like a C12 landed 17.50.Callsign sounded like Eagle eye 61 but i'm not up on my callsigns and i heard it orbiting a couple of hours earlier on 133.325.Anybody know which C12 it was?

Came into lakenheath last Thursday evening, (4th August) not many caught it as it wasn't showing on SBS/PP. and calling Romeo 23545.

Is this the white twin engined prop aircraft that has been stood up by hangar 6 on lakenheath all weekend ? would it also be the same aircraft flying over Watton area at high altitude ?

It's a C-12D, Construction No. BP-26, supposedly owned by the U.S. Air Force (anyone have any idea of its unit?) It regularly likes to swap its military serial with its civilian alternative, N50515 and has been around for quite a while... http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA---Ar ... 2f875ae047" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's configured more like one of our Shadow R1s than an MC-12, but to be honest I've never seen a C-12 (King Air) kitted out quite like it! It has a downward looking radar and a rear looking camera, and that's just on the outside... I would assume its role is airborne surveillance and attack co-ordination, but that's just a guess.

What ever it is, it's nice! :ninja:

It's almost a mini-JSTARS config, does it have a data-block? (Sam?)

I know the US Army used to have a single RC-12T on strength, although no-one actually knew what it was...?!

Little square of text under the cockpit - only has it on one side of the aircraft though (if it has one)!
