Help please: Friday visit to view an exercise departure

Post by The AntMan » Sat Mar 02, 2024 8:47 am

Hi all, I was hoping one of you kind folk could help me out.

I am planning to take elderly father to Lakenheath to see the F-35s next Friday.

Is there a good time to go to see them depart on exercises?

Any help would be great, and a morning time would be ideal.

Thank you

Ant

It's never set in stone when you're going to see them. But at the moment with the 492nd and 494th away they are going up after midday.

Being a Friday, you may catch a few performance climb outs. I visited last Wednesday, and they didn't launch until around 1400 or so. Still worth while with 16 x F35, 3 x Hawk 67's and 2 x Alpha jets, all within 40 minutes. Keep looking at the base movement reports for details etc.
