Gals and Guys

I do not think you will see any flying today.

First, RAF Lakenheath normally close by lunchtime on Fridays.

There will not be any night-flying today, the announcement specifically said: "Sept. 8-10, and again Sept. 14-17", you can see the full announcement here:
https://www.lakenheath.af.mil/News/Arti ... akenheath/

If no F-15s have taken off yet, they will not fly to at all today.

The F-16s may fly later, they did Thursday last week which was also a half day for the F-15s (LN was completely closed on Friday last week).

And this morning RAF Lakenheath posted this on their Facebook page:
"Today we pause to remember an attack that took the lives of nearly 3,000 lives at the Pentagon, World Trade Center, and Shanksville, PA." - Dr. Mark T. Esper, Secretary of Defense

If i read the latest (FB) post correctly, its worse than I thought
Just to add some clarity on the parking situation, as there seems to be a few of you that may have been misinformed. The only area available for parking is the dedicated viewing area car park, this has been provided by the Base. All other land surrounding it is private or protected areas. This includes the roadside verges leading to this car park, they are protected roadside nature reserves, this is another reason the Highways department have been out this week, most of the signs have been removed or destroyed and these verges have been completely churned up by cars parking on them, these will now have barriers installed to prevent any further damage. The information below will also be posted around the viewing area to hopefully make all aware of this situation. Please do not park on these verges.
So basically you either park in the viewing car park or you don't park at all.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone today for the advice. Saw 25 jets launch and nearly the same amount recover too. I assume the F15 & F16 that flew over together did a fly past together somewhere as a mark of respect given the date? Anyway, thanks for being helpful, I was there from about half 10 to about half 3 and it was well worth it! Until next time...

Worth the wait then? A Friday hasn't been like that for ages.

It won’t be long before they shut the lot viewing area also due to parking rubbish and in a previous post which I mentioned about human waste in the car park. Some of the idiots on here thought it was funny I posted that, don’t bother me I can go on base any time and I’ll have the last laugh.

Hi TORNADO-GR4

Glad it worked out for you... I was in Scarborough on Friday watching SABRE & DAWG Flights over head chasing each other about... If you happen to know the serial tie ups for these flights it would be very much appreciated... I did post a request but sadly nothing came back.

 Just a thought after reading the threads mentioned here.

Not all FCers are idiots but there seems to be an ever increasing number of military aircraft viewers who reflect the lack of social standards current in British society.

The English language and grammar used in this forum could do with being raised to show the younger members a good example.

Cops have just moved all cars parked on the side of the road, pull in to forest track still okay. Apparently its an urban clearway and they're saying that and the fact there have been a few near misses recently (lorries mentioned) is why they're enforcibg it now.
Yeah, I was one of them! Up on the grass verge by the viewing area now and no problem. MOD police just drove up and went down the track but never spoke to anybody, not that there's many cars here anyway as its all quiet. It looks as if cloud has set in and nobody by EOR so will probably call it a wasted trip soon.

Gary
Months ago, a Contractor measured from the LN viewing area gate, all the way to the end of the road, this could be for the proposed barriers along the verges.
