Raptor deployment!??

A friend just told me he read that a F22 deployment is due soon!!?? Any truth in this please? I have my doubts, it maybe a Facebook post that he's read, so please forgive me for asking!

It could house some truth I would say unlikely. However Lakenheath is undergoing a major resurfacement of the pan areas at the moment so there may not be enough room for them there if they were to deploy. Do you have any sort of time frame for the deployment as I believe all were cancelled up intill September?

You would think so. He says he read the deployment to FFD is this month! I guess just duff faceache info!?

Yeah I would imagine Lakenheath is the best bet not sure on the state of construction there on the pan areas. Some of the locals will know more.

Advance may be there already. Already have ground equipment at Lakenheath that can be used, all that is required is spares and maybe a towbar along with personnel which could come on a couple of KC10's. Main party may turn up Sunday, only needs 1 aircraft.

F-22's to Fairford - the mind boggles! Such a thing wouldn't happen there unless Arrestor Gear had been installed and tested, which it hasn't - so if this deployment is supposed to be soon, forget it.

I believe fairford has some temporary arrestor gear however I have never seen it used even last year for the SP F-16.

Don't some F-22s wear FF on their tail.........? Someone's probably misread a movements sheet. A bit like when someone 'leaked' that an E-8 was coming to Fairford without realising that E-8 is a USAF rank and a type of aircraft.

I know it does not take long for it to be changed but Lakenheath is currently Notam, ed as closed on Sunday . Personally I have packed the car and filled the tank, time will tell if it's needed.

For previous USAF fighter deployments it was flown in/out, from/to Germany by C-130. Think the UK may supply it for RIAT's?

I remember an F-15 had an IFE a few years ago on the way to RIAT and had to divert to another field due to lack of arrestor gear at Fairford. That was a few years ago maybe ‘15
