3 Heritage Schemes for D-Day

Post by James Cutting » Thu Jan 31, 2019 2:04 pm

As seen on Twitter:
Seems that RAF Lakenheath are painting up 3 (one from each Squadron) F-15's to commemorate 75 years since D-Day - Looks good :thumb:

Now that is a bit special.

I do hope they make an appearance at RIAT or the D-Day Dak event at Duxford.

Lets hope the RAF make a tribute as well. After the big effort they made for their 100th I don't suppose they will bother.

There is a video of 97-0219 going into the paint shop

( Where to go - Marham for the specials or Lakenheath for a first glimpse of the heritage jets ? The stress!)

Nice head on shot here.

More than 640 man-hours, across 15 days and $15,000 worth of painting equipment went into the process.

Easy guess what the 494th jet will look like!

Must admit, glad it's not silver...think it would stick out like a sore thumb, quite like the red chequered pattern! Nice to see them do it, think they'd look better with just the tail and stripes IMO.

Pleased they have made the effort but a silver eagle would have been stunning

Looks like 84-0010 going by the nose door

Seen as the 492nd jets tail is Red, and the 493rd is Blue, odds on the 494th being yellow??

Or maybe it'll be white tail....
