Metoff gives winds at SSE, moderate to fresh, sunny, so my guess r/w 06 will be in use again.

Surely if the wind has any easterly component at all it will be on 06? That's pretty much how it works everywhere else, especially if there's some strength to the wind.

Not quite correct.RWY runs 240-60 degrees therefore a full on x-wind would be from either 150 or 330 degrees,150 being from the SE.24 would then still be the preferred RWY.

Morning all

I use this website (https://earth.nullschool.net/) to help with weather - or more specifically check wind direction. It also models the flow and other elements up to 3 days in advance (by 1 day increments) or 3 hourly. I've found it quite useful over the past year or two to check against other info.

Hope that helps.

Mark

It's been a very long time since I was on a base tour, but I'm sure my guide explained that Mildenhall plays a role in this too. If the wind at Mildenhall clearly favours RWY11, as it did yesterday, then Lakenheath will be on 06 to keep the traffic apart?

Mildenhall is Favouring Runway 11 Today so may well be 06 if the above is correct, although it also means they are taking of from LN with a light Tail wind,
C17 Went off of 06 this morning at LN so......

If you've a radioscanner you can listen ATIS.
ATIS tells you which runway is in use.

The Mildenhall thing is indeed a factor.I hadn’t factored that in.
If we’re really lucky then we will have 06 this morning for top sides then they’ll change ends for the recoveries as I think it’s forecast to swing round later,

It varies. I've been in John's Field on a couple of occasions when Mildenhall is on 11 but Lakenheath has been on 24.
