There is a thread in this section covering the AVs which says they are not visible but operating from HASs.

being a middle-aged pedantic f**t it's a hangAr not hangar. They are using 493rd FS HAS site.
12 flew yesterday am (Mon 23/7) plus 10 up pm. None flyers in afternoon were 88-0541/89-2011/89-2026/90-0709.
89-2102 appeared to land with stores related issue as parked far side well away from HAS sites on landing. It was shepherded in by another aircraft which overshot. Cheers

I have a wistfulness for the forgotten hypen ( edit: what I really mean is Effing-Hyphen)

F-16
Non-Flyer

I know we are all well-intentioned but I might dash off an e-mail :)

without sounding too blaise should this not be that the Aircraft are Has'd as there are no hangars over there to my knowledge, and they are operating from a HAS Site

I think that the whole problem has been caused because there are some individuals that have no idea what a HAS is (Hardened Aircraft Shelter - for those that don't know), a HAS can also be classed as a hangar.

We used to call them "brick s@!thouses" when they were built. It is a bit inaccurate, I know, but they are a pain in the a***.

Also being pedantic  , I believe the word is "blasé", not "blaise".
Cheers, Bob

You often hear what sounds like PAS being mentioned on Lakenheath ground , especially for arrivals - is this the area outside of the HAS?

I'm not sure, but as long as they spell it right then it's OK with me!

Don't the Americans refer to HAS's as TAB-Vee's? Although that's probably their own design (Bitburg/Spangdahlem for example)

Except for the apostrophe in Vees.

Sorry but you set yourself up there. :P

Maybe we should get back on topic again before the anti-grammar brigade start having a go.

Errm. Oh right...I've just Googled "TAB-Vee's" (and TAB-Vees!), and apparently it stands for Tactical Air Base Hardened Aircraft Shelter.

It clearly doesn't...

(I always thought it was Theater (sic) Air Base - Vulnerabilty? Yes/no?)

V in TAB-V refers to it being the 5 design as I understand it.
