What's the crowd situation like at LN - has half the World and his wife & kids rolled up there yet? I'm planning a run out there on Thursday.
You should have a good time as flying has been what I would describe as "intense" this week and last week. I've not seen a single F-16 yet and I can see them taking off on rwy 24 from my window. All been twin tail fin F-15's when I've been looking. Wind turning from SE on Thurs, so may be using 06 instead. I predict this activity will last at least until Friday afternoon.

In that case then, think we'll get down there extra early and (sensibly) park up by the forest gate - if it's okay to park there. Cheers.

You will have to be there super early as mentioned on here the F-15SA are due to continue their journey early Thursday morning. So competition for a spot will be intense. Naturally you can park in the viewing area road and walk around to the forest.

For Friday, 'Metoff' is now giving negligible SW wind circa 0600-0700L then around 0800-0900L NW v. NE, again negligible before hovering around southerly for the rest of the day.
Good luck early risers from Roger in the depleted lakes District!

Hi everyone

Can we expect to see the same level of activity this week. May have a chance of being in the area mid week.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Are they expected to return to Italy on Friday? If so, what's the liklihood of them having a day off/preparation day tomorrow and therefore not flying. I have the chance to visit tomorrow and don't want a 160 roud trip wasted.
Thanks

This is a good point for anyone thinking about a last chance long distance trip to see them tomorrow.
Is it likely they will have a quiet day tomorrow before transiting back Friday? I guess it will be a case of if you can then chance it.

They are flying Wednesday afternoon , Buck 21/22 are up

Impossible to know for sure with inside info from range bookings etc but I would be surprised if they don't fly Thursday morning at least as it is only a short flight back to Aviano if they go on Friday

What was the support aircraft ? I seem to remember a C-130 came in after they arrived.

18:20 Wild 1/2 on Lakenheath approach

18:30 Buzzard 1/2 on Buzzard ops 50 miles out

I can get there tomorrow afternoon, but have other commitments in the morning. Worth a punt? How busy have the F-15s been the last few days since the 493FS departed?

Average for the strikes I would say - Tuesday afternoon saw 4 pairs depart.

Thanks chaps. Many Eagles so far today? Could be there for the afternoon, just not sure it's worth the journey for only half a day there.
