Q about Raptors

Post by hendriks » Wed Apr 13, 2016 7:05 pm

Hi all,

I have one small question. I've read on this forum that the Raptors are standing outside om the C- ramp. Can some one tell me , if you can read the serials from outside.

I live in The Netherlands , and I'm thinking to come over on Saturday but only if you can read the serials .

Thanks for answering

Arie

Arie

I would doubt if you can read the serials from the outside. The main viewpoint is Maidcross Hill around the back of Lakenheath. Yesterday seven could be seen from that point. The other was reported from another location but difficult to confirm.

I have not yet been but a mate did yesterday.

Has anyone advised otherwise?

You'd need very good binoculars to read them from the outside..... They're parked just along from my section and I can't read them, then again my specs are in the car.
7 on the ramp this morning, 1 elsewhere.

I expect the "elsewhere one" is for the media event this afternoon, in case it rains!

Without giving away any secrets can you help out on the ID of the missing one?

Cheers

Hi
Just back from Lakenheath.
7x F-22A's visible from the warren off Maids Cross Rd. Another being used as a back drop to a media event in one of the HAS also visible but after a long walk south down the fence. It emerged briefly outside behind a tow truck, allowing it to be read off as '095' by others, confirming what I'd been told. Incidentally, the based HH-60G that was parked in line with the end of Maids Cross Rd was '26353'. Hope this helps those travelling from afar. The last 4 rumoured to arrive Saturday. It'll be bedlam!

Arrived rather belatedly this Thursday afternoon.

At 16:30 I could read off five from the high ground adjacent to the Brandon road:
Tails 4107, 4080, 4094 and 4072.

While I was in the field 05-4101 was towed to presumably join the others that are out of sight from the Brandon road side.

So 4101 may have been the missing one this morning.

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

I don't think theres going to be twelve at LN for very long, would'nt be surprised if at least half of them go over to europe sometime next week.

Can anyone confirm they are all still parked outside? I may make a trip across on Sunday if they are.
Many thanks.

Anyone read the two F-22s on their own today?(23rd)

We read 8 in a line, plus a hoard of F-15s. The other two were seen from Maidcross Hill but not read due to haze.
In no particular order the 8 were: 084, 094, 106, 072, (095)95FS, 086, 091, 080

F-15s read: 205, 3004, 303, 327, 307, 320, 301, 2001, 3001, 218, 321, 134, 135 on ramp with Raptors.
001, 171, 156, 175, 172, (027?)'493FS' 6 ship returning from Turkey? With 82-0192 KC-10.
135 also returned as a solo.
046 was noted being re-located to a HAS.

Hi Buster,
The two Raptors in front of the shelters were 04-4081 and 05-4107.

The Have Glass scheme reduces the aircraft's radar return. Don't ask me why though, have no idea.

Any information on how long they are due to stay at Lakenheath, apart of the official press release stating "begin of May" - which might include anything from next Sunday's departure back home to CONUS until one further week of operations out of EGUN?

Not sure of exact date but from what I have been told, probably some time next week. I know they will still be on base next Tuesday (3rd) as there is another media day planned. After that, I do not know.

With regards to the media day on Tuesday, will there be no flying as per the arrival media day?

that is the same question I was going to ask?
In theory no flying on Tuesday, an at least try of departure on Wednesday might make sense, though why would they stay the whole lang weekende? Maybe some "reward" tour for all crew to London or so?

I am just deciding about giving it a last try tomorrow with nice weather forecast or next week which might turn out quite frustrating with mabye no flying at all or departures only ...
Would like to have that crystal ball now ...
