Re: Possible SP F16's to Lakenheath
Drive along the front of the airfield, with the main gate on your left. The road bends gently round to the right, then straightens out. Follow it until just before the road starts to bend to the right, and there's a narrow entrance on the right (just beneath the "A" of "A1065" above the trees at the bottom right of this picture) - Drive onto this track and pull off to the right near the wooden fence (there's plenty of room for half a dozen cars). From here, it's a quick hop over the fence and then just follow the field to the West and the ramp will come into view. You should be able to read most if not all of what's on there with a bit of work...Sorry to ask possibly stupid questions. Where can I park my car prior to walking down to the F-16's ramp? Is it a safe place to leave the car (I do not want to annoy an angry farmer!).
Do I walk along the road or through the adjacent field(s)? Any benefit from looking across from the warren?
Thanks

Re: Possible SP F16's to Lakenheath
So guys, and galls, if I've read this correctly, the F16's should be departing the first week in August??
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

Hi everyone
I...like, Pune...would very much appreciate some help and info regarding the SP F16's.
A departure date would be great and also, if I may...will these jets still be outside over the coming weekend?
I'm sure some of you guys out there can shed some light on this....if you can, your help would very much be appreciated and greatfully welcomed.
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Possible SP F16's to Lakenheath
Can anybody advise if the F-16's flew today? - hoping this may indicate if they will be up tomorrow, and will avoid a wasted journey if not. Thanks.
Re: Possible SP F16's to Lakenheath
The F-16's did fly today, but my only evidence from ADSB.
That is not an indicator of flying tomorrow, though I would have thought they will be. Apart from weekends, I think they have flown everyday, bar the first few days after initial arrival.
If that helps at all and not based on any specific knowledge I have

It looks like some do show, some don't. Even then it's a bit intermittent.
Not always what you would expect to be the flight leader that comes up either. Altitude does not seem to have much influence.
I refer to ADSB-Exchange.

Good directions. For the uninitiated, be aware of the significant potholessschofield wrote:Drive along the front of the airfield, with the main gate on your left. Re: Possible SP F16's to Lakenheath
Is it correct that one of the SP F-16s is painted in the F-35-like Have Glass V dark grey scheme? And has it flown?
You want the Aladeen news, or the Aladeen news?
Re: Possible SP F16's to Lakenheath
Yes it flew twice on Thursday.
Re: Possible SP F16's to Lakenheath
It is indeed correct. 91-0403 has the early silver finish Have Glass paint scheme. It is adorned with multiple mission marks and it has been flying.TonyO wrote:Is it correct that one of the SP F-16s is painted in the F-35-like Have Glass V dark grey scheme? And has it flown?

That F-16 isn't wearing the Have Glass V scheme, very nice pic though

What scheme is it wearing then? It's totally different from all the others and in good light looks almost metallic.Thunder wrote:That F-16 isn't wearing the Have Glass V scheme, very nice pic though

Hi, I have copied a reply I wrote in another thread on the subject. Hope it helps
With regards to the scheme on jet 403 it is infact coated
in a type of radar absorbent material. It's called " Have Glass and Pacer Mud" and is designed to reduce the radar signature of the jet. This scheme is actually the forerunner of the present Have Glass V scheme that is appearing on the jets now ( this is a dark colour and was seen recently on one of the Ohio Jets that dropped into Mildenhall).
The appearance of the jet looks very worn and dirty . I believe that the F-22 and F-35 Have similar schemes and indeed from some angles and in some light does give a silver scheme. The Greeks also have this on some of their jets. Plenty of info out there on this if you're interested.

This is a more thorough piece. For Have Glass just scroll down and it has a few paragraphs....
