They’ll want to get them here once their pre-delivery testing is complete, they’ve been handed over, tankers have been sourced and the refuelling mission planned etc etc etc…

So after these four, there's 6 left for the 495th to be completed. Then the build up for the 493rd will begin, I guess before the end of year? Also I'm assuming the 6 spares are to be built also to make a total of 54 jets?
Re: 48FW F-35A delivery summary (14 at 17/06/2022)
The 493rd are due to stand up sometime this year, no confirmed date yet, may even have a jet in those 4 for the Reapers.
What 6 spare? Or do you mean the 6 left you mention to complete the 495th?

The already delivered to LN 19-5493 will be part of the 493rd's first jets surely.
Re: 48FW F-35A delivery summary (14 at 17/06/2022)
I'm sure I read there was to be 54 F35s in total, 24 for each and 6 spares. I've probably misunderstood things. In a nutshell is it 48 or 54 then ?!
F16.net has 5580-5583 as 495th jets.

Yes pretty sure that's correct.NorvilleRogers wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 12:44 pmThe already delivered to LN 19-5493 will be part of the 493rd's first jets surely.

Yes it is but the Reapers haven't officially stood up as an F-35 unit yet, it was marked as the tails numbers come off the line in order.NorvilleRogers wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 12:44 pmThe already delivered to LN 19-5493 will be part of the 493rd's first jets surely.

AH I see what you mean, not sure on the spares, surely they'd be classed as a squadrons jets. Not even USAF would buy 6 to act as spares but the 24 each sounds about right.colp wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 3:45 pmI'm sure I read there was to be 54 F35s in total, 24 for each and 6 spares. Re: 48FW F-35A delivery summary (14 at 17/06/2022)
This seems to be a repeat of the debate on here from autumn 2021. The conclusion then was that the 48th FW would receive 54 jets. 24 for each squadron and 6 to be in a reserve pool that could be used by either squadron. But that could all have changed by now.
Given the lack of markings would anyone know which of the two squadrons an F-35 is allocated to (other than radios call signs) unless you were part of the unit.

I believe the only distinguishing features to denote a 495th jet is the squadron emblem on the intake and the squadron motto 'Mala Ipsa Nova' on the tail. I presume the 493rd jets will have 'Mors Inimicus' on their tails.

The jets carry squadron insignia on the side of the left air intake just like the F-15s, they also have the Valkyries motto "Mala Ipsa Nova" on the tail.NorvilleRogers wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 7:57 pmThis seems to be a repeat of the debate on here from autumn 2021. 24 PAA (primary assigned jets) plus 3 in reserve which totals 54 jets for two Sqns.

Is there a list anywhere with all the names on the jets?
I've stared to compile a list from my own photos and ones from other posts, I have names for 12 and 6 with the jets mythology names.
