I would guess that they are being downsized in the light of the impending reduction of F-15C operations and therefore less pilot training requirements.

They still have seven 'Ds left, having gained one of the old "WA" ones (80-0054), together with 16 'Cs - according to the Scramble database.

As far as colours are concerned, see https://fightersweep.com/4994/173rd-fig ... agle-ever/ for their special.

Hi Bob.

Cheers for checking that up.

Made a few when I visited KF a couple of years ago and yes, the tails were excellent.
78-0487 78-0502 still in aggressor c/s 78-0563 78-0569 78-0572
79-0008
80-0005 80-0011 80-0047 80-0055 80-0057
81-0062 81-0065
82-0044 82-0046 82-0048

Must pay them another visit next year and see what's left.
Only 200 miles south of Portland, will use the 'visiting Crater Lake National Park' as an excuse!
You can read some off with the mark 1 from outside the Terminal, they're parked that close.
Oregon has a thing with F15's the other unit in Portland has a fair few too.

It makes me feel a little bit bad that after all the help you gave me, you couldn't get to see them.

I decided to go AWOL from work for the arrivals....then after looking at the photos I got, shooting into the sun, of boring looking aircraft, I did wonder if it was worth it !!!! :D

Yeah....it was, I loved seeing them !!!
Thank you again for all the help, and cryptic clues you post. You are a star mate. Especially seeing as you couldn't get down to see them.

Regards Dave.

If these are the same airframes as per an article on FlightGlobal then they form part of a compensation package for the US/Iranian nuclear deal. It suggests they will be operational rather than for spare parts etc.

Interesting article on the latest F35 hiccup there too...
