F35s& F22s due 6/10/17
Re: F35s& F22s due 6/10/17
FRidays are normally a quiet day at all British Military airfields. Any flying normally stops at lunchtime.

The C-40 had 60-plus pob which would reinforce the likelihood of USMC/USN deployment to LakenheathTrevor J Ford wrote:I have heard that the F35s are to be either USMC F35Bs or USN F35Cs ( time will tell ) but i find it ironic that a USN C40A/165832 arrived approx 17:10 this evening

Ah, I see what you mean. No personal experience of LN on a Friday, but looking at Glencoe's radio logs (alongside this thread in the Lakenheath section), Fridays seem to be normal activity in the morning, and nothing in the afternoon.GoldenPlane wrote:Ah okay, I mean exactly the Fridays.. As far as I know, the Spangdahlem F-16’s won’t fly that much on fridays... Is it the same in Lakenheath / Mildenhall?Seahornet1 wrote:When the F-35s were at Lakenheath back in May, the based F-15Cs and F-15Es were flying too, at least on the days that I visited.GoldenPlane wrote:Sorry I post this in this topic, but will the locals fly? If I will make the trip out of Holland..

Does anyone have even the roughest idea when the visitors are likely to turn up?
I'm sadly not an LN regular but I'm thinking of going tomorrow. Is it likely to be a case of getting there as soon a it gets light and just hoping for the best?

That is the best thing to do.
Re: F35s& F22s due 6/10/17
F-22 are already at LN came in today
Re: F35s& F22s due 6/10/17
Did they come in whilst it was dark then as no one I know at the Heath saw them!
Cheers

Blimey... That raises two more questions, then!Binks92 wrote:F-22 are already at LN came in today
Are the 22s expected to move tomorrow or is it more likely to be a maintenance day, seeing as it's Friday? And any further word on the 35s?
Re: F35s& F22s due 6/10/17
The F22s haven't arrived yet!

Well i work on base and served an f22 pilot in his pilot uniform, he said the 35s aren't coming this time
Re: F35s& F22s due 6/10/17
This will be a great laugh if it's just F-22 crews deploying to play with based F-15s & Typhoons
I imagine it's just extra crews that are already here ahead of the jets arriving later.

Re: F35s& F22s due 6/10/17
Thinking about it all, if (big IF) F35's turn up wouldn't it make more sense if they were Ar force jets, instead of Marine Corps or Navy?
Reasons:
1: They would want to train air force assets together first, before bringing in USMC or Navy jets;
2: Have the Navy even got enough F35C's to be able to deploy them in any sort of numbers?
Just a few thoughts,
Regards
