"bit boring" - yeah sorry that came out wrong - if they are pottable then that will do for me and I do like my fast jets (all mil actually) but a few folk on the fence were bemoaning the lack of markings which is fair enough but they were on delivery so only to be expected.

I retired last May.

Work does rather get in the way of spotting - this was just the sort of thing I would miss. For Eagles or Raptors last April I would be consigned to doing the 'walk of shame ' in the field opposite the A1065 after work.

Are these latest deliveries going to be stripped for spares or updated for operational use?

Certainly yesterday on their way out of Lakenheath they were US pilots.

They were being flown by pilots from the 173rd Fighter Wing, Oregon ANG. The patches on the flying suit shoulders indicate this as seen in close up images.

Again...well said Bollo.
It makes me feel a little bit bad that after all the help you gave me, you couldn't get to see them.

I decided to go AWOL from work for the arrivals....then after looking at the photos I got, shooting into the sun, of boring looking aircraft, I did wonder if it was worth it !!!! :D

Yeah....it was, I loved seeing them !!!
Thank you again for all the help, and cryptic clues you post. You are a star mate. Especially seeing as you couldn't get down to see them.

Regards Dave.

Dinger.
Shame they still didn't have their Klamath Falls tail colours.

But what I'd like to know is the 173FW(114FS) only had 14 F15D and 20 F15C at 'The Falls' to start with.
Has the unit replaced them with newer birds(to lose 8 in one go seems a lot, or have they been downsized in strength?

Mike
