Vulture 01 wrote:Thinking about it all, if (big IF) F35's turn up wouldn't it make more sense if they were Ar force jets, instead of Marine Corps or Navy?
Reasons:
1: They would want to train air force assets together first, before bringing in USMC or Navy jets;
2: Have the Navy even got enough F35C's to be able to deploy them in any sort of numbers?

Just a few thoughts,

Also, where is the ALTRV for the crossing tomorrow and where is their support??

This might be a radical suggestion but why doesn’t everybody just wait until they are on their way or information is confirmed rather than create pages of speculation which actually means nothing.
Given that there are always a thousand spotters at the end of the runway when anything of interest arrives (Saudi F-15SA deliveries for example), word will get out on the day...

But raameagle, that sounds just too sensible to be adhered to ;-)

Perhaps they do, but these are military movements that may or may not be coming back from Ops and not scheduled airline services into Heathrow for example! If they are staying for a few weeks then people have got plenty of time to book days off work...

Pretty patronising, I'd say. I think most members of this forum realise that military movements aren't the same as Heathrow services. But surely that doesn't stop them trying to ascertain, as in my case, the chances of anything happening on a particular day before deciding to leave home at 5am to drive to Lakenheath on spec?
And who knows if they're "staying for a few weeks." Do you? If so, please share your information...

I was at Lakenheath on Sunday all the way from Newcastle, a trip I make regularly once I know I have a chance of it not being a wasted journey. I had a full car for a trip tomorrow but have cancelled the trip tonight as I am not convinced anything will happen. I can come down on another day but others have taken a day off and won't be able to.
Not a criticism of a fanastic forum but just making the point that some of us need to spend 9 hours in a car just to go there and back and see something

Absolutely! For every person here who seems to have an inside track on what's going to happen there are ten who just have to take a gamble and spend hours driving in the hope of seeing something. What will probably happen is that half of the USAF will turn up tomorrow and I'll be kicking myself for not taking a chance. 'Twas ever thus...

2 tankers due out of Bangor and 1 out of McGuire

CLEAN83 (KC-10A 79-0434) moving Northeast at FL260, after having circled North of Langley AFB... No other CLEANs visible (yet) on ADS-B, nor any evidence of chicks in trail

Could this be it, then?

Another thread reports two Cleans advised to start up at own discretion at Bangor.

Certainly looks like it.

Don't think so. The missing flight of SJ F-15Es is far more likely going by the callsigns - TABOR41-46.

Clean 83 appears holding rather than returning yet.
