Can anyone please confirm that the 12 F-22s are still in situ this weekend and are all visible from maidcross hill at the back of Lakenheath.
Thanks in anticipation

Re: F-22s AT LAKENHEATH
All are still present but I very much doubt whether all are visible from Maidcross Hill. There are too many buildings/shelters blocking he view.
Regards.

Sam, I`m afraid I can`t tell you the direct answer, but I don`t know if you`ve seen this post? It suggest there is a media day tomorrow:smudger wrote:I'm planning on travelling down on Tuesday, does anyone know if the raptors will be up flying? Thanks Sam

That doesn`t mean there won`t be any flying of course. If the media are there to photograph "operations" then they will most likely fly, but only those attending can tell you the definitive answer to that unfortunately.

Tuesday isn't a just a media day as such, its a media and enthusiast "F22 Raptor flying operations photographic documentation day''.... so Raptors should hopefully be flying...
(may be after 11:00L though

Hope this helps

Anyone know when the Raptors are leaving yet?
Re: F-22s AT LAKENHEATH
The 48th FW has tweeted they are here until early July

@GKJ_Photography Hi Gary. All we can say is they're here till early July.
Re: F-22s at Lakenheath
Now that's great news indeed

Re: F-22s at Lakenheath
Curb your excitement, I'm afraid it has been corrected further on to ''early May...another week or so'' when questioned over the July departure.
Cheers

Best sign will be when more kc-10's turn up at Mildenhall
Re: F-22s at Lakenheath
Have a look at the ALTRV postings by Gary - here and here. It looks like they are returning to CONUS on Sunday and Monday.
We already have a 305AMW KC-10A (87-0124) and a Maine ANG KC-135R (58-0107) in the 'Hall from bringing the Oregon F-15s over today to Finland. These could well look after the Raptors on the way back - perhaps with a bit of help from a QUID or so to start with.
Which just leaves arrival(s) for Monday's return.

Re: F-22s at Lakenheath
Really enjoyed watching these technically superb aircraft at the Heath this week. I noticed two things in particular about their operation, firstly some of them by-passed the LCP and some did not. Cannot imagine why except possibly that they were 'clean' (no external weaponry) so no pins to remove.
Secondly that despite having afterburners they did not use them at launch. Wikipedia says that they only use it for high-power manoeuvers in flight and don't need it to take-off so don't waste fuel.
