C17s since Sunday

Post by starfighter » Fri May 22, 2015 7:50 pm

Just a question for you local guys - think there has been probably more C17s in the last
5 days then I have seen reported for the last 3 months. Definitely a little bit unusual.
Can anyone give a reason/explanation as to the increase in this activity?
Many thanks to those that can put a little bit of light on this subject.
Just for interest 3 down there now as of Friday night.

Possibly due to returning ground support to LN from deployments up in Iceland bud

Thought that but seems rather a lot ,think 10/11 flights so far ,
and when they left to go north only 2 or 3 C17s followed,
just wondering , as we have had one Florida air Guard F15 this week,
(86-162)if some more might be coming.
Thanks for your reply Paul .

C17 arrived this evening at the hall. At present three in the heath, one in the hall all on a bank holiday weekend, not the usual pattern,

I was thinking the same, I have never seen so many C17's coming into the Heath. There must be some reason?

305 AMW C 17's RCH 301 04-4130 and RCH 339 04-4132 arrived Sunday for the KEF/LN and I would think they have been in and out as the week went on.? RCH 789 80054 departed this morning and RCH 045 is getting ready to depart any time soon .

The three C-17A's at Lakenheath at 0900 this morning were 95-0107, 98-0054 and 04-4129 all from the 437 AW at Charleston; the first two departed as already mentioned. In addition over at Mildenhall was a further C-17A 02-1105 from the 62 AW at McChord.

RCH315 77178 departed on Wed 27th at about 13.30

There was another C-17 still parked up facing west - can anyone confirm this was 33120 please?

Ferrari

Ferrari,
On Sunday 33120 - McChord was over by The Warren. From memory, it was facing west.

Freeman
