Friday 28th

Post by woodoo » Thu Jan 27, 2011 12:43 pm

I was hoping to come up from Kent this Friday but I have noticed a NOTAM has been issued to say the airfield is closed from 11.50 till Monday 0600. does anyone know if this is true as I am keen to come up?

Here are the latest NOTAMs for Lakenheath. You can alter which NOTAMs are mailed to you by choosing Edit/Remove Favourites when viewing a particular airfield at http://ukga.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Generally if a NOTAM is filed it's true, though every now and then there's incorrect dates on them!

This one is correct, however;

Code: Select all

Q) EGTT/QFALC/IV/NBO/A/000/999/5225N00034E005
B) FROM: 11/01/28 11:50C) TO: 11/01/31 06:00
E) AIRFIELD CLOSED.
Looking at other NOTAMs they're filling in some potholes on the runway.

Chris, many thanks for the confirmation, I might head further north to Coningsby, assuming the Typhoons are flying?
Cheers again

Nothing NOTAMed, so they might be. Best asking in the Coningsby section though!

Personally I think you're better of going to Coningsby if you want busy,well as busy as it gets for a Friday!lakenheath will be quiet if it's set to close at 2.30 ?hardly seems worth it.
You could always spend the morning at Coningsby and pop into Marham on the way down?and even mildenhall on the way further south for the big types.
But Coningsby for me if I was you.
May the skies be clear and blue and the wind fair with a guiding star to steer by.
