Visiting Norwegian F35s

Post by Avenger » Fri Sep 01, 2023 10:50 am

Hi guys
I’m hoping to get up to most of the active bases participating in CW23-2 on 11th - 13th Sept
Reaper493 states the Norwegian F35s are parked in the Crypt or 493/495 HAS area but can anyone tell me whereabouts that is? More importantly are they visible from anywhere? The Warren maybe?
Many thanks

You may not be able to see the heads up section yet

Basically it seems you can see them from the warren under the F-35A sunshelters - from the post you cant see all six in one hit so a bit of shuffling along the fence is required

When the VT were in you could see them easily from the field adjacent to the A1065 but perhaps the Norwegian are in a different section of sun shelter?

Luckily the Norwegian F-35A have the distinctive 332 Skv flash on the tail

Are these visible from the field opposite?

They’re heading home today. First two have gone already the other 4 are due to go this afternoon.

Flight shy one has already gone. Went as one of the 132A/B flight.

I notice that the RNoAF F35's have a large faring on the top of the fuselage between the tail fins; something I have not noticed on the USAF examples. Presumably some sort of radar?

As already said it houses a drogue chute for use on Norway's short icy runways, though there appears to be an issue with the reliability of the system.
