48th FW Command Team have just posted on Facebook -
Plane spotter nation: the weather forecast looks decent next week. Who’s up for a surge?

Won't be long before Lakenheath is on the Expedia 10 best things to do in Suffolk and on the list of tourists attractions for East Anglia :)

Have a fun fair in the fields opposite

How do people rate the viewing of parking in the main viewing area and walking up the side of the airfield(spot 1 on spottersguide)
Possibly going on Thursday next week, hopefully still on surge

That road is signed as private although I would assume that people ignore it and go anyway.

There is a public right of way along the 'road'. Any member of the public may walk, cycle or ride a horse along the right of way, and stop to admire the view, or take photographs. The only thing you should not do is block the public right of way. The owners of the land might not want you there, but their wishes do not override the public's right to use a right of way.

Fair enough if that is the legal position. I very rarely go despite being local. I went recently and the signs looked official so presumed things had changed.

Only if it's a night flying week, I don't think it is this week.
