SJ 4th FW F15E Squadrons

Post by Macclad51 » Sun Jan 16, 2022 9:46 am

Been checking the squadron badges on the left CFT of the 14 deployed 4th FW Jets and they don't necessarily match the fin tip colours:-
87-176 - 333FS badge - yellow fin tip
87-187 - 333FS badge - yellow fin tip
87-206 - 336FS badge - yellow fin tip
88-1671 - 333FS badge - yellow fin tip
88-1673 - 336FS badge
88-1676 - 336FS badge - green fin tip
88-1680 - 336FS badge - red/blue fin tip '4TS'
89-483 - 336FS badge
89-490 - 333FS badge
89-492 - 336FS badge
89-493 - 336FS badge
89-496 - 334FS badge
89-501 - ???
90-230 - 336FS badge - red fin tip

The squadron fin colours should be:-
333FS - Red - 'Lancers'
334FS - Blue - 'Eagles'
335FS - Green - 'Chiefs'
336FS - Yellow - 'Rocketeers'

Just realised that the reason for this is that the Conformal Fuel Tanks are fully interchangeable

88-1671 now has a 333FS badge on the CFT. When it arrived in November it had the 336FS badge on the CFT.
88-1680 now has a 336FS badge on the CFT. red/blue fin tip outside and a red fin tip only on the inside. When it arrived in November it had the 333FS badge on the CFT.

There are 15 jets deployed
89-0501 336FS on the CFT - no fin tip colour
89-0505 336FS on the CFT - yellow fin tip

Thanks Nighthawke. Hopefully we'll get up before they fly off.

A few people quite reasonably think they will do their normal 6 months tour , in Europe rather than the middle East.

Sounds obvious but if you want to see them you should make time for a couple of visits sooner rather than later.

It's possible they'll stay here as long as the Russians are making threatening noises at Ukraine.
Just a thought!
