Car park

Post by smudger » Sun May 24, 2020 9:29 pm

With the restrictions on travel lifted Slightly have people started going out a bit with social distancing measures kept at all times? Haven’t read if the car park is open? Any help would be grateful.

Thanks Sam

Yep I was there Friday morning. Everyone parked sensibly and also kept away from each other. I'll be there Wednesday fingers crossed

I went yesterday and tbh it was a joke. As far as i could see Social Distancing simply doesnt matter to many people if it gets in the way of getting phots of planes. For every 2 or 3 who take SD as seriously as they can there appears to be 5 or 6 who don't. The cars over by the wood entrance could barely be seen for the people cluttered around them (you cant tell me they All live in the same house!). I for one will certainly reconsider going again until this damn pandemic calms down a LOT more. A phot of a plane or a serial number isn't worth potentially catching COVID19 (especially if you have just got over having Heart Surgery)
Also thanks to the Brummy twit in the Blue BMW who blocked me in and forced me to get in my car via the passenger side and move to a more Socially Distanced area over near the Car Park viewing area.

Clearly there are people who have no regard for their own lives let alone others. Which part of "killer virus" do they not understand?

Personally if I believe someone is going to enter "my social distancing area" they are asked not to do so.

If they persist in doing to they'd probably be ejected from it with force I'm afraid.

What a stupid comment, ejecting someone by force would be an even greater breach of social distancing as you would be 0.00 metres away from individual. Just walk away if you are unhappy or better still stay at home then the problem will not arise.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience raptor309. TBH i spotted the problem as soon as I approached on the main road. I know a lot of people like the forest entrance because of the light and top side shots, but i never go there normally. I went on the lane leading to the car park and parked nicely on the left hand side. I must say that everybody in that area appeared to SD without a problem and a good time was had by all. Hope you have a better experience next time.

Cheers
John 'flightpath'.

I must have been parked near you as I was also parked up on the left hand side.

Didn't their used to be signs saying don't park here because it's a Site of Special Scientific Interest? When did those come down?

The area beyond the fence line on the left hand side is the Site of Scientific interest not the roadside verge.

So based on your comment if an individual keeps coming close to you, you have to go home?

Weak.

I can only assume you read the Guardian and voted for Swinson.

It's worth remembering that we aren't talking about personal space - we are talking about social distancing. A measure enforced by law to prevent transmission of a virus which for almost anyone *could* turn out to be fatal.

If someone is about to violate your social distancing space and you ask them not to do so then not only are they breaking the law, but they could be jeopardizing you well being and potentially life.

I'm afraid if someone deliberately breaches my "social distancing" whether they are 1 foot away from me or 1 inch away from me the damage is done, and they would be "encouraged" to rapidly move out of my immediate vicinity.

As it happens I'm not in a position to go anywhere at the moment so it is neither here nor there.

No I only read some of the rubbish that appears on FC. Physical encouragement which you are implying will happen is also an offence which has far greater legal consequences than failing to social distance. And your assumptions are unsurprisingly totally wrong.

2 mtrs is a measurement dreamt up by our government...1 mtr is the WHO guideline...1.5 mtrs is the distance most european countries adopted...if you're vulnerable then you should think before you leave the house...if you're not you will most likely be 99% ok even if you do catch it.

Wonder how many people climbed over that fence by the forest entrance into the field ta the 24 end.?
That was probably the biggest chance of catching anything i would of thought.? Unless you are a pole vaulter you must of had to of put your hands somewhere .....

It isn't just the risk of catching it, but also the risk of spreading it. Half the distance then ten times the risk apparently.

My daughter drove past Lakenheath last week and saw many people far closer than 2 metres.
