Ramp Chart

Post by Truejambo » Tue Jul 04, 2023 9:33 pm

Evening all,

Hope you’re all well.

Looking for a help with something if anyone can oblige. Does anyone out there have a map of the aero drone that includes references to the aircraft parking/standing areas?

I’ve had a look on MILFLIP and have had a search around the web but cannot find anything definitive.

Thanks in advance for any info shared.

Cheers,
Scott

Until about 10 years ago the h/s number was written in large lettering near the pan, and could be read on Google satellite view. I did note a few, but they could have changed and I would need to go through my old notes to find them in any case - not too easy!

Try this for starters which is an aerodrome plan from Peregrine Bush, I think it is available already elsewhere on this site but could not find it. Spot 1 is across the taxiway from the fire station and they run roughly clockwise to spot 60 at the western end of taxiway B, google maps does show some of the designations if you zoom in and look for the hardstands numbers which are on black squares just off the tow lines into each hardstand. Note RIAT uses different designations for the taxiways and aprons so the map for the show is very different.

Not for RIAT
But.....use "what3words". ....zoom right in and some spot numbers are visible.....some are on lead-in lines on adjacent taxiways. Mushbuster was spot-on (pun)...this is just an alternative.rgds

If you are looking for the bay numbers north of the run way then I will try and describe where they were. With the aid of a google map; looking across the runway from the east park and view; then left of the large lump of concrete, the triangle bay was Bay 1. To the right of the concrete are six more triangle bays, two truncated. The top row run goes Bay 3 (truncated), 5 and 7 the bottom row is Bay 4 (truncated), 6 and 8. Clockwise round the parking bays you come to a straight bay No 9 then the three triangle bays running from Bay 9 are 11, 12 & 15. The lower triangle bay is 10 followed by a double bay 13 & 14. The south side can be obtained from Google Maps. Hope this helps

Hi guys,

Thanks very much for all the help from everyone above. I've pulled together a view based on info provided and checked on maps. This is the finished result.

Cheers,
Scott

Sorry to suggest a correction but there are some errors against the official USAF plans for the base (which are not published). The North transient ramp is hardstands 2 and 3. Hardstand 3 as shown is no longer a hardstand and is not on the airfield plans as such. I think the stub of hardstand 4 and hardstand 15 were broken out a couple of years ago when the loop was repaired. Your hardstand 12 is in fact 13 and your 13 is in fact 12 (disagree with Time Machine on this and it does not tie up with the USAF maps of the base). However the loop was rebuilt over the last two years and from the air at least, hardstands 1, 5, 7, 9, 12 and 14 have been slightly altered in position, hardstand 9 now looks like hardstand 11 and is no longer a square stub. It is possible the loop has been renumbered since the work was done. The NE loop stand numbers used to be painted on the tow lines in small numerals

Sorry to have caused confusion but I should have said that the bay numberings were from a few years prior to the work on the North East Loop. I agree with mushbuster: 12 and 13 should be swopped around and also that 3 is no longer a bay since the hangar was built. I found a photo from last year’s RIAT that shows the extent of the work [Bays 4 & 15 having been removed and .1, 5, 7, 9, 12 and 14 reworked just as mushbuster said]

Hardstand (Bay) 4 does exist as it's currently NOTAMd closed, along with 5, 6, 7,and 8 until 1700UTC on the 19th July'23.

Afternoon all,

Thanks for all of the contributions over the last few days. I have made some changes to the map as per the clarifications above - which you can see below. I have left 9 & 15 in for now but marked in blue to differentiate them.

I've had a look at Google and Bing maps and it looks as though they have outdated imagery (as below). Apple maps have the most up to date imagery and you can see stands 9, 11 & 13 have been remodelled and stand 15 looks like a construction site.

If a more up to date version of the pb-photos map becomes available I'll update that version with the changes.

Thanks very much for all your help. If there are any more contributions please let me know

Cheers,
Scott
