Re: Kalitta Air 12th May 2023
So, could we assume B-1Bs TDY to Fairford for Air Defender '23 (12-24 June)??
Other interpretations and rumours are available!!

Do they still have a-10’s based at dyess? They’re also due to take part along with b-1’s

Don't think A-10s have ever been based at Dyess. Are you thinking of Barksdale?
Re: Kalitta Air 12th May 2023
A10's going to Ramstein 'allegedly' . Dyess has C130's based along with the Bones , no A10's .

Re: Kalitta Air 12th May 2023
Excellent news
I was having my third major open heart surgery at Southampton hospital during the last B-52 deployment(Aug last year ) and missed the hole exercise
But health trumped the deployment on that one it was much more important to have the surgery done
Glad to report that recovery is going very very well now and I’m really looking forward to this upcoming’Bats ‘ TDY ….
wonder if with the bank holiday they have issued the flight plan now because of that ? Never known it so ealry known before
All the best
Max
P.s also wonder IF one May hang around for RIAT ….
To get us going here is reminder from 2021 mega deployment

Re: Kalitta Air 12th May 2023
This first batch of "KC"-coded A-10s (AFRC machines from Whiteman AFB) are for Exercise "Defender 23", which is NOT the same as (or connected to) "Air Defender 23". In my eyes, it seems daft that the 2 are so similarly-named, especially when the 2 exercises are so close together. "Defender 23" is US Army-led, whereas "Air Defender 23" is run by the Germans, but with a sizeable international contingent, especially the USAF ANG assets that will be at Hohn, Schleswig, Spangdahlem and Lechfeld (with some support aircraft elsewhere too!)Pauld339 wrote: ↑Thu May 04, 2023 7:36 amFirst batch of A-10s "primarily based in Spain and Greece during the exercise" :

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!
Re: Kalitta Air 12th May 2023
Is it likely B-1s will arrive almost a month before the exercise?
Re: Kalitta Air 12th May 2023
If they're on a Bomber Task Force deployment, yes.

No exactly true. Usually happens within a day or 2 of ground staff arrivals. Fairford is already geared up for BTF at any moment.Seahornet1 wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 9:48 pmBut it won't be that far ahead. This Kalitta flight will be the first of several support arrivals, so the bombers are likely to be at least a week or two later.![]()
