Smoke trails

Post by jackreacher » Mon Oct 11, 2021 5:37 pm

Due to bit of good luck I’d just finished a paddle boarding session at Bowmore lake when the STORK flight returned. Fantastic views of the flyby, circuit and final approach on a lovely autumn evening. However, I noticed the lead aircraft was leaving a much darker smoke trail than its partner. Any ideas on what would be the reason for this?

Nice, is that anywhere near Bowmoor Lake in the Cotswolds? :)

Mike - well spotted. Autocorrect I think. It (Bowmoor not Bowmore) is between Fairford and Lechlade. It’s very close to the approach to rwy 27 - about 4 or 5 miles from the base. Actually to be accurate I was at the Bowmoor Sailing club as the original Bowmoor lake is now part of an expensive gated community:-)

Thanks EGVP. I was surprised they didn’t both do it?
