Seen a picture on Face Book this morning that the bomb dump entrance has now been coned off and no parking for a year been quoated ??

Due to be demolished BOLLO and turned into the new DABS area. The new bomb dump is going on the northern side of the runway which will service the Western loop and a smaller area is to be built on the south side of the runway which will service the eastern loop.

Is DABS the Downright Abusively Belligerent Spotters Area?

For those of a more serious outlook...The Air Force began buying Deployable Air Base System—Facilities, Equipment, and Vehicles Kits — known more simply as DABS kits.

That will probably mean the parking there has gone forever then. Wishful thinking,, but during the building works, they could take a look at providing a parking area similar to Lakenheath

From what I can tell the parking at Welford/27 end is going to be extremely limited going forward. There is now no access to the bomb dump entrance for the foreseeable future, and I was told by the police last time I was there (admittedly a while back) that they will be there ticketing people parking on the grass verge opposite the RIAT park and view entrance. This basically leaves the handful of roadside spaces up Washpool Lane beside the Bomb Dump itself. Otherwise it’s a case of parking responsibly in Kempsford or Welford and walking to the usual spots.
