Re: Current B52s at Fairford as of 11-10-2019
Unless someone knows different this is the first time 60-0028 has been reported in the UK. Brings the total number of confirmed H sightings at Fairford to 80 (out of a total 102 built.)
60-0024 and 25 were both deployed to Fairford in Mar/Apr this year while 61-0006 was previously at the base in Oct/Nov'98.
Re: Current B52s at Fairford as of 11-10-2019
Landing order was
1) Brig 03 60-0025 AE587E at approx 20:25
2) Brig 02 60-0024 AE587D
3) Brig 04 61-0028 (no Hex)
4) Brig 01 61-0006 AE589D
Taken from radio transmissions
Brig 01 was the 2nd to approach but overshot and was last to land.
The last 3 all landed between 22:35 and 23:00 exact times will have to come from someone else.

Whilst I'm not a numbers guy, if 102 were built, how many still exist? How many still fly?

Clearly seeing 100 airframes is quite a decent achievement then
Re: Current B52s at Fairford as of 11-10-2019
But I've been doing it for 55yrs next April. I'd say that's not many considering there were 744 built.

Ah ok! You must try harder then
Re: Current B52s at Fairford as of 11-10-2019
That's about the same as me, 55 years last August and have seen 108 of all marks - that includes about 15 at Griffiss AFB in 1980 though, so not all in the UK.
Re: Current B52s at Fairford as of 11-10-2019
mmmm started logging in 1970 and haven't recorded anything since 2002, but in that time I caught 202 active BUFFs. I don't have 60-0028 in my notes but 61-0028 was at Marham in 1981, so which is it?

As we are having a 'Big Willie' contest, I've seen 168 - all in the UK and ranging from D - H models.
and I needed 60-0028

Re: Current B52s at Fairford as of 11-10-2019
Got to 240 (all in the UK) and gave up counting - mind you I did see my 1st Buff in Feb '62 at Greenham Common, an F model, 57-0153 from the 4238th Strategic Wing at Barksdale. A hell of a lot of B-52 wing badges to remember in those days!
Re: Current B52s at Fairford as of 11-10-2019
445! Bagged over 340 at DM in 1992, some of which I'd previously seen in the UK at Fairford, Brize Norton and Upper Heyford during the 80's!
