Exercise Ample Strike and Bomber Task Force General Questions.

Post by thevulcan » Thu Aug 29, 2019 8:11 pm

Just an area in which we can all share our speculation and ask Questions relating to the deployment. :P
Edit: Does anybody know if the B52s are due Monday?

Thanks for opening this thread. For folks like me on the continent it#s a little hard to keep tabs on everything. I wouldn't know what to do without FC.
If anyone gets word out of today's (Friday's) press conference about the probable duration of their stay in the UK it would be most appreciated if it was shared here. I sure hope they'll really stay till mid Sep. how unlikely such a long stay might be though. But just in case they leave already next week or so, I might be able to reschedule my bookings?!

Thanks already in advance to everybody who is willing to share information.

Letova Aktivita is now saying that "arrival of foreign aviation technology is on Mon 2 Sep 10am - 2pmCEST(=9am-1pmBST).The most intensive flying activity will be on 4-6 and 9-11Sep."

I would welcome the same info re duration of stay at Fairford because I'm hoping to book some time off work to visit before they leave.

That at least DOES sound promising. Lets hope for the best.

The 509th Press Office have been quoted by Scramble as saying the B2's will not be taking part in any external exercises. and the deployment will end when the B2 crews have completed their assigned tasks.
Make of that what you will.

Crap, that could basically mean anything and nothing. Pity but doesn't change that we are left only with hope and prayer then hihihi.

Call me cynical but if they’ve photographed it then it’s happened - done & dusted. The PR ppl can clap themselves on the back on a job well done!

Correct, they might depart for home on Tuesday or they might stay a few more days or weeks. One thing that is certain is that the 509BW, RAF Fairford or anybody else for that matter aren't going to send out a ditty saying 'dear spotters, we are flying here, here and here and heading for home here'. Accept it and move on without constantly speculating...

They are currently at Fairford and the nature of the hobby is that one might be lucky or one might not! Perhaps technology has made people expect too much and before anybody has a dig, I made the effort and was there at 1am when they landed in the vain hope that one of the two that I needed would turn up (and wasn't I lucky when Georgia landed).

Regards

Mark

Well according to the Daily Express( I know) we are gearing up for WW111 and they are here for two months. I despair how some of these hacks keep their jobs.

According to the 10pm ITV News yesterday (Friday 30 August 2019) the B-2s are staying for 2 months, yes! months! They had good coverage of the press event.

Hmmm : https://www.afgsc.af.mil/News/Article-D ... ive-in-uk/

First few lines say "Three B-52Hs from Barksdale Air Force Base, La., and three B-1Bs from Ellsworth AFB, S.D., along with approximately 800 Airmen, are currently supporting exercises Saber Strike and BALTOPS in the U.S. European Theater."

The article is dated 27th Aug 2019. Fairly sure none of the above are in the UK, and not seen any reports from mainland Europe either. So as we say down here in Zummerzet - where bist de?

Got a feeling that's been included in the article by mistake. BALTOPS was in June.
