Re: NOTAM 26/08/2019
Long NOTAM... could it be anything from whiteman...? And if so, would it be too much to ask for a golden hour arrival in the evening?

Suggests to me that the long NOTAM is in case the mission gets cut short and the inbound/s turn up earlier than planned.Luketurfrey1 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 7:39 amLong NOTAM... could it be anything from whiteman...? And if so, would it be too much to ask for a golden hour arrival in the evening?
Re: NOTAM 26/08/2019
Looking at Whiteman AFB Notams this one below could be for departures. 0600L - 0700L translates to a 1200-1300 BST departure window if it is indeed B-2s for FFD.

Indeed, it looks like whatever is happening is likely to be after dark.Widget wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 8:18 amLooking at Whiteman AFB Notams this one below could be for departures. 0600L - 0700L translates to a 1200-1300 BST departure window if it is indeed B-2s for FFD.

Re: NOTAM 26/08/2019
I Googled B2 flight time from Whiteman AFB. MO. & it says they could say, but then have to shoot me! So based upon a 747 Chicago direct LHR (circa. 7.5 hours) & the earliest the B2/s 'could' launch is UTC minus 6 hours, I see the following....
Depart Whiteman at 12:00 UTC (13:00 BST) Plus 7.5 hrs direct flight gives ETA of 19:30 UTC (20:30 BST) = DARK! Happy to be corrected as 'Sums' wasn't my best subject?
'Then refuel on the ground, change crews & t/o earliest 21:30L & land before 00:45L' .... NOT going to happen IMO!

Re: NOTAM 26/08/2019
13:45Z is a very precise opening time which suggest a movement of some sort mid afternoon .......
Would agree evening B-2A arrival looks most likely and hot pitting
Sunset 20:08 this evening at Fairford

They won't be returning to Fairford after their hot pit.Supra wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 10:03 amI Googled B2 flight time from Whiteman AFB. MO. & it says they could say, but then have to shoot me! If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!
Re: NOTAM 26/08/2019
If this is for the potential visitor(s), the track looks as though it could be for a non-direct route to FFD? How about a detour via a range somewhere as happened in 2008 which made it a very late night / morning for those of us gathered there.Gary wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 9:34 amA second ALTRV has been posted for today

Don't think this is anything to do with B-2s as it is a Westbound refuelling with following tanker return.davem wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 11:16 amIf this is for the potential visitor(s), the track looks as though it could be for a non-direct route to FFD? Mine is Guesswork based on factual Whiteman Notam, Dodgy Calc's & a Hunch!.... MRTT is rarely wrong in these matters? I'm not going to bother for the U2, get sunburnt though the day, just to imagine what I'm missing later in the dark.Pune wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 11:02 amHi Guys,MRTT wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 10:12 amThey won't be returning to Fairford after their hot pit.Supra wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 10:03 amI Googled B2 flight time from Whiteman AFB.
