Post by johnwayne » Thu Feb 08, 2018 11:52 am

So pre-deployment we had 2 x Fed Ex MD11 arr , a C5M , & Omni 767 pax.
Post deployment 2 x Fed Ex MD11 flights ,& Omni 777 pax .
Wonder if we're still due a C5/C17 or maybe they left larger Buff Eqpt 'till next time .
Just filling time musing :)

Maybe the kit the C5 brought in can be used by the other Bombers. I.e. Power sets, hydraulic trollers etc

Hi, I keep reading that there are numerous deployments this year, and equipment being left for the next one, etc.

Does anyone have a rough idea of when the next visit is due to be, next week, 2 weeks, months? I know exact information cannot always be given out.

Many thanks for any help.

Best regards,
Derek.

You could well be right Al, sounds sensible to me, but what do I know?
Word at the fence was that the C5 would be back to collect, although I would have though it would have returned by now if that was the case.
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

That's assuming they have a spare one that is serviceable.

The USAF told local council leaders in November that aircraft operating from the base was soon to be the norm, with inactive periods being the exception, so who knows?

I can also confirm that the local council were told the base was to be active again from this year with a few short periods of inactivity.

Fairford has its own AGE (aerospace ground equipment) section with plenty of generators, compressors, bomb loaders and light all's etc, the stuff that is brought in is aircraft specific.

Just an idle thought here. If they are taking all this stuff back that is specifically for Minot based B52's does this indicate that the next deployment will be something different, or simply that they're short of kit back at Minot?

Would that stuff though be used only by the crews that were using them?

Hi all
Probably have a checklist of equipment they will need on a deployment, not a lot of good hoping what you need is in place only too find it isn't.

I would have thought that part of the exercise of the deployment was for all personnel involved packing/moving all that is required to keep the deployed team/aircraft fit and well. That means both ways.
