I would say there must be 500 + personnel flown in 200 on the B762 and 300 on the B763 then the equipment from the B744F and C5, is this more than previous deployments similar to this one?

No problem
Incidentally, POB means ALL persons. Pilots, crew included.

Re the POB - its passed to approach control in case the a/c crashes and that applies to all inbounds. Not all the personnel will arrive from the US, some will be European based and detached as required.

I think what Graham refers to in the second part of his post are additional staff required for a significant deployment. Cooks and similar, security, Military Police, are just a few that come to mind. These are not aircraft type specific. So could be brought in from places much closer than the USA.

Is it possible some could be sent over from Heath/ Hall then? I remember last year all the perimeter guards I spoke to were grunts that had been flown in, but presumably it would be more cost effective to bring personnel over who are already on deployment, unless there are none to spare?martmpf wrote:I think what Graham refers to in the second part of his post are additional staff required for a significant deployment. All B-2 equipment arrived into Mildenhall before being taken to Fairford by road. Aircrew arrived on civvy flights into Heathrow.
