F-35s to Fairford discussion thread

Post by sonicbenj » Sat Jun 04, 2016 9:40 am

Hey guys,

I can't see if the date has been posted elsewhere on the forum, but it looks like the F-35s are due on June 27th.
UPDATED 3 June | After last week’s successful deployment of two Dutch F-35A Lightning IIs to the Netherlands, Lockheed Martin and the F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) are now preparing to send five jets to the UK for participation in two major airshows. The jets are expected to arrive in the UK on Monday 27 June, according to Lockheed Martin.

I heard through the grapevine that the RAF is sending a C-130 to the US as route support for the lightnings coming over to the UK so perhaps we are in line for an RAF example to make a surprise visit to the UK.

Yeah i think there is defo a uk one coming over for the static, maybe one for flying.
I'd rather see the the american ones to be honest, these will be rarer in the long run.

Yes, I'm aware of that- USAF F-35s are being permanently based at LN.

correct, the kit arrived on a C130 yesterday evening, so hopefully a UK example will make an appearance.

USAF tankers will be dragging the F-35s over as they've not finished AA refuelling trials with the Voyager yet.

There is no Voyager in the US doing F-35 trials.

That Voyager (ZZ334) arrived home in the early hours of 4th June following the successful F-35 AAR certification.
