Re: More buffs heading to Fairford
Thanks Rory

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

Assume no activity today as no sign of a NOTAM?

Re: More buffs heading to Fairford
Hi All,
Perhaps someone with greater Knowledge could help me out please ??
I would love to catch a U-2 / B-52 / B-1 on approach, but have not yet achieved that. Thinking of making the trip next week.
I have access to NOTAM`s ,but am a bit thick as to how to use them.
If no NOTAM is issued for a particular day, does that mean there will be no flying that day?
Is a NOTAM usually issued on the day,or the day before,or can it be anytime?
Many thanks in advance for any info..,hope the questions are not too `stupid`..

Re: More buffs heading to Fairford
A NOTAM stating that the airfield is going to be open is usually posted an hour or so before the airfield opening time, which is often an hour or so before the first expected movement.
Re: More buffs heading to Fairford
Bit of a rumour here in N. Ireland that something big and American is going to Virginia via Aldergrove from Europe tomorrow. Apparrently due at Aldergrove mid afternoon, any of you guys help with some info?

Re: More buffs heading to Fairford
For anyone interested the B-52s are very viewable from the lane in Marston Meysey- not as close up as the B-1s were back in June, but got some nice pics with my 300mm.

Lovely video - you've got to love wind noise (and the British civvy staff standing around with their hands in their pockets watching the Americans!)

'Members from the 2nd Bomber Wing inprocess and collect their luggage at Royal Air Force Fairford, United Kingdom, September 11, 2017. The airmen are deployed to RAF Fairford for a 3 week deployment supporting bomber assurance and deterrence operations. U.S. Strategic Command bomber forces regularly conduct combined theater security cooperation engagements with allies and partners, demonstrating the U.S. capability to command, control and conduct bomber missions across the globe. Bomber missions demonstrate the credibility and flexibility of our forces to address today’s complex, dynamic and volatile global security environment'

No mention of any exercises, just hardcore sabre rattling - that's a first for the USAF's propaganda machine.
