It depends on the wind, the limits and weight of the aircraft, and to a certain extent, the crews mood at the time, good luck.

Why exactly would they move to Brize Norton!? :S

They're at Fairford because there are hangars there specifically built to accommodate them!

Aviologists, stay away from RAF Fairford during Exercise Saber Strike, you are causing traffic problems. THERE IS NO CAR PARK.

Welcome "Ontheflightpath". I must say that your first posting as a new member is not quite as friendly or open as some might expect. We are (largely) a friendly group of "aviologists" as you call us. Maybe an introduction might help - there is a Newbie section (5th from the top on the main index page).

I suspect, though I may be wrong, that you may not be an "aviologist" and may possibly have used this forum as a way of trying to warn enthusiasts and photographers away from, possibly, your local area. I cannot speak for others but I would suggest that this may not be the most appropriate method.

I for one will not be heading to that area, not because you don't want me there, but I am too far away. However if I were closer I would visit and, unless there were official and legally enforceable reasons to stop me, I would park legally and pursue my hobby, as I am sure most if not all forum members would and do.

Kind Regards

.... to be fair Ontheflightpath, there were plenty of your neighbours blocking the roads on sunday, not just people with cameras.

Having been down now three times in the past week the problem at the 27 end comes from those who when passing by park where the rest of us know will attract the ire of the local constabulary. Today a delivery truck and a white van just pulled over onto the cycle path and were promptly moved by the cops. Also have to say if you're not happy now wait till RIAT.

As for the term Aviologist, I prefer Aerosexual.... :P

I too have been up to Fairford 3 times so far and I will say with total honesty that the worst behaved motorists on each occasion have been local members of the public and not enthusiasts. They park and stop wherever they feel like it and clog up the road, cause obstructions to entrances etc. Enthusiasts are there for the love of their hobby and as such will mostly park properly because we do not want to give the police any excuse to move us on and ruin our day out. There is always an exception but the enthusiast community tend to police ourselves to prevent them causing the rest of us any problems
Cheers
Mark

I've never been to fairford other than riat, does the above mean we are not supposed to go? I was planning on going down Thursday this week, I've printed out the pb-photos guide is this ok to work of as to where to view the heavies?

:thumb: Of course we're allowed to go Dave. Just follow what everyone is saying on here and park responsibly. I'm sure you'll be politley told the best place to park if your not sure/accidently park in the wrong place (i'm certainly hoping i will be!). I'm coming down myself tomorrow :D

Gary wrote:A video with a little bit about the deployment posted on YouTube by the USAF global strike command https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6HmeeE ... WBwxG-Lfmw including a slightly different patch to the one mentioned at the start of this thread
I've contacted the guy who created the original patch and he is not happy that the 2nd Bomb Wing have changed his design which he provided to them. They had no design of their own, and with just a few weeks to go he created a patch for them. I have now been told that he's looking at creating another version to reflect the B-2 exercise...

Would be interesting to see whether any of the crews are wearing one of the patches we have bought or a 2d AEG patch

If you're referring the 'Saber Strike 2014' patch, no crews at Fairford will be wearing that patch for this deployment.
