Exercise Saber Strike - Advanced Info/Discussion

Hi All,

Sorry if this has been mentioned before. i normally do civil stuff but my lad (11 years old) is mad on the B52's and as he is at school i can't get him out during the week to see the deployment, however i understand one of the aircraft will be up on Saturday for the D Day anniversary? does anybody know what time it will be off?

I, like many, am sick of all the misinformation and speculation that seems to be surrounding this Exercise. That said, I couldn't let this go...

The Atlas B747F coming in from Whiteman was certainly a tease, although what Tony & OpsJockey have explained is entirely plausible, the GPUs could be universal ones and I believe no B-2 specific support equipment was seen being unloaded from it.

That said, the cargo unloaded from the 747 was all put in the B-2 hangars for storage, as opposed to towed over to the B-52 pans. (Not that the three Buffs need any more equipment than they already have!)

And I'm pretty sure the National B757 (Which is not cargo, but a full passenger configuration) does appear to have come from Whiteman, as this FR24 replay clearly shows it climbing out of the Missouri area... http://www.flightradar24.com/data/fligh ... 6/#37eed58

The cargo, fair enough. But bringing crews over from Whiteham? I can't see they've got much to do at Fairford with the current aircraft that are on the deck.

1 or 2 aircraft should launch tomorrow for DDay flypasts (weather dependant), but its a case of staking out and waiting patiently i'm afraid.

Everything i said but got shot down. And opsjocky said the 757 didnt come from whiteman. And i said the cargo from the 747 went into the b2 hangar. Not the 757 and i new the 757 came from whiteman. the reason i said about the cargo going into the b2 hangars because of eye witness on the base.i personly think a pals act has happened here saying nothing to people who are rude to people or having a personal dig you as a moderater have a responsability being non partial( and stopping the people who are rude open to everyone so everyone can read it) i wont be posting no more informatoin on here ever again i had the same problem a few years back about the raptors and it was you who told me i couldnt put it on here deleted my post then put the the same info on a few days later i dont forget ever my username was oz1remember now SAM.P this pals act courses nothing but trouble beause u let them get away with it no good saying after the event oh maybe there right and i must make out im a reasnable chap well ur not ive had my say and im entitled to that

Right, just to clarify... It wasn't me who 'shot you down' yesterday (I didn't even post in this thread yesterday!) and I'm not responsible for what others users post on this forum. I was out yesterday (at Fairford, actually) so couldn't moderate what unfolded in the morning, but other members of the staff team did (I'm not the only one!). They cleaned up the thread and told everyone to calm down and discussions are actually currently under way as to whether or not to take action on some members behaviour throughout this thread. What I don't get is if anything, the post that you have quoted is backing up what you earlier stated, so what's the problem?

I suggest you look back and think about who you really want to have a go at; because I can't see any justification in having a go at me.

Also for the sake of putting this to bed, when the F-22s were in Fairford back in 2010 my username on this forum was Spirit of Kitty Hawk, not SamP, so I'm not sure where you got that from.

A weeks ban will be issued to ANY member if they hijack this or any other thread with personal abuse, put downs or other idiotic off topic conversations.

If you disagree with another members statement, reply and explain why. Being courteous to others should be the norm, not the exception.

Anyway, when do we think the B-52's will take off on Saturday for the flypast?!

Been looking on 'tinternet for an idea of what time the Buff may be doing its flypast Dunk but I am struggling to find any info.....I am sure someone will be along with some info soon.

No mention of any particular service or event at Graignes on the 7th in any of the D-Day event timetables.

I only have info on the Uk/Allied Airborne commemorations, so not sure what relavence the 8th AF have, but it might be a spelling mistake? Grangues vs Graignes?

Saturday 7th June
1000 hrs. Grangues: Service of Remembrance followed by the scattering of the ashes of Wally TROUTT of the 12th Battalion.
1000 hrs. Sannerville: 3rd Division Memorial (by Church). Wreath Laying. Fly Past by BBMF. March Past with Military Band
1100 hrs. Merville Battery: Ceremony to celebrate the official classification as a historical monument of the ‘SNAFU SPECIAL’. Fly Past by BBMF

Still think it's unlikely - The eastern part of the paradrop was exclusively British/Commonwealth Paras. And anyway, B52's aren't ACC anymore.

There is somethign going on at 15:00 French time at the memorial in Graignes, which would be my bet. Public details are sparse, which either means its low key, or a big-wig in attendance.

According to the Air Force Global Strike Command as follows -
During this short-term deployment, the multi-role heavy bombers will conduct training flights in the USEUCOM area of operations, providing opportunities for aircrews to sharpen skills in several key operational sets and become familiar with airbases and operations in the region. Additionally, in recognition of the legacy of the U.S. Eighth Air Force in the Allied invasion of Normandy in World War II, a B-52 will take part in the 70th anniversary D-Day commemoration in Graignes, France, June 7.
So there will be a B-52 taking part.
