Went through the whole thread so sorry if I have missed something but is it just the B52's that will be deployed to FFD during this exercise and for what period are the aircraft here for?

Thanks

Hi jingernut,

The first post in that thread tells you that one B-52 is expected to depart tomorrow somewhere about 0945BST for flypast displays at the ILA Berlin and then at Istres/Le Tubé AB by the French Mediterranean coast before returning to Fairford at a (guesstimated) time of about 1345BST.

As far as how long the B-52s will be here - and when their activities will be - is anybody's guess, but the following NOTAM establishes the Military Air Traffic Zone around Fairford for duration of the exercise (my emphasis).
B0941/16 - MILITARY ATZ ACTIVATION 5NM RADIUS 514101N 0014724W (FAIRFORD AD,
GLOUCESTERSHIRE). SFC-3000FT AMSL
16-06-0347/OPS2. 0500-2000, 06 JUN 05:00 2016 UNTIL 23 JUN 20:00 2016. CREATED:
03 JUN 14:40 2016
Regarding B-2s, last year they put in their hot "gas & go" visits on the equivalent of the Sunday and Monday of this weekend. Whether they, or anything else, come this year, we shall see......

Hope that helps,

Bob

Any more word on the rumoured Bone deployment later in the summer?

Cheers

EX AMPLE STRIKE begins 3Oth of August I believe so probably safe to say anything up to a week prior for arrivals. Seven is correct though; not a rumour.

It's not supposed to, it's an article about the exercise.

I note the above press article reports:

"The U.S. B-1 and B-52 bombers, AH-64 Apache helicopters and two KC-135R mid-air refueling aircraft will also participate in the exercise".

An official statement actually says "The United States Air Force is presently considering participating with AH-64 attack helicopters, strategic B-1 and B-52 bombers as well as KC-135R tanker aircraft".

Hopefully the outcome will be the same.
