B-1 arrival Discussion.
Re: B-1 arrival Discussion.
At this point I’d say they’d do a mission 1st then arrive, in which case purely depends on exercise start date for their involvement. You could be in for a long wait if you were to go tomorrow, I’ll be waiting to see the pattern for flying.
Re: B-1 arrival Discussion.
Yeps, will be keeping an eye on the timings of takeoff before i decide to go
If they do come straight over, not 100% sure on the duration, image in betwen 5-6hrs

Re: B-1 arrival Discussion.
There will be indicators both Stateside and at Fairford prior to the Bones arriving.
Tankers up over the states, AR in place, ground crews moving at Fairford, etc.
But I'd put money on them arriving either very late at night or early in the morning - in the dark in other words, sadly.
And as has been said further up the topic, they could very well arrive on the back of a GPM rather than a straight flight from Dyess.

Re: B-1 arrival Discussion.
The last time the B1s came to the UK was oct 2021 I think [c/s REMUS? ]. On that occasion they tracked down the Irish Sea to Valley did a quick orbit then went into the NWMTA for a photo shoot with "Apollo"
After a while there they then headed directly to the field.
Going from memory they arrived around 1000 -1100.
We tracked them on standard sqwk codes for the area , plus their allocated Mode 1.
Be interesting to see if they follow a similar pattern this time.

is it possible to get an arrival track (like what you do sometimes with the U-2's) when you get a second (and after they arrive obviouslyzero_gravity wrote: ↑Sun May 21, 2023 10:43 amThe last time the B1s came to the UK was oct 2021 I think [c/s REMUS? ]. Also good to point out that since their last visit, some have been equipped and used Mode-S, so there's a possibility they will show up in more places than before rather than mode-A only which is not as easily accessible to everyone.zero_gravity wrote: ↑Sun May 21, 2023 10:43 amThe last time the B1s came to the UK was oct 2021 I think [c/s REMUS? ]. Re: B-1 arrival Discussion.
There have been some tanker re-positioning movements this evening.
KC-46 - 18-46050 (STARK96)
KC-135 - 62-3569 (callsign not showing)
Both of these are now on the ground at Pease as of 2248 hrs BST.
KC-135 - 58-0120 (RCH158) also believed to have landed this afternoon but has returned from Lithuania.
All could be un-related but tankers clearly meeting on the east coast from all over is not a bad sign.

Re: B-1 arrival Discussion.
STARK is a NH ANG callsign, so presumably just an aircraft returning home.
Oddly 62-3569 didn't connect to C-Band at all for its flight, so no callsign known for that one. Doubt one KC-135 is going to be particularly useful for a number of B-1s, however!

Re: B-1 arrival Discussion.
Yep STARK was on its way back from Travis, after having been to Japan.
Thanks CHILL51 for the c/s, FLAM tankers tend to be used for more interesting missions!

That's ZULU time is it not? Which would equate to 03-0400 our time.

Re: B-1 arrival Discussion.
They don’t always fly direct, often incorporate a training mission over Europe or UK en route.
Re: B-1 arrival Discussion.

That's even if it is related to the B-1's which it might not be! Relax, at least 1 person on the forum will cover it, and I am sure if you keep refreshing FC, you will see when they're on their way, then the mass pandemonium can begin

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!
