Parking info

Post by Campbell89 » Thu Mar 19, 2020 10:15 am

I’m planning on coming down next Tuesday providing we’re not all on house-arrest.

I’ve been looking at a few viewing guides and it appears the 27 end runway near Whelsford is the best location for spotting but looking at google maps it seems there is no parking at all around that area, all double yellow lines? Can anyone advise on parking?

There is limited parking on Washpool Lane. It's a busy road to the nearby quarry, but if you park sensibly you should be OK. If the local police or Mod police aren't happy they will move you on

It's all about common sense really. The junction of Washpool Lane /Whelford Road is used by multiple articulated Lorries hauling aggregate out. Ensure un-impeded access at all times along Washpool Lane... BUT particularly within 25 metres of the junction. Monday 16th saw one of the Truckers get pissy about it & within a short time the Cop's turned-up to force some cars to move, just as the B2,s were about to RTB. Interestingly, the cars parked well-back on the wide pavement up by the Bomb-Dump compound were tolerated, presumably as the road & a little pathway were clear?

Exactly, just needs to be some common sense used.
